I can lead you through an exercise program that is specific to you and based on sound scientific principles. Exercise can be as simple as putting on your trainers and running for 40 minutes, however incorporating this with resistance training and having the motivation and confidence to do it can all be very daunting.
So this is where the Personal Trainer comes in. My job is to motivate you to exercise, to make your exercise specific to you and above all to help you enjoy exercise. I will work to targets set by you.
Targets might be:
Whatever your goals we can discuss them in your initial free ½ hour consultation, then it is my job to deliver.
In addition to your own goals you can expect some or all of the following benefits:
Many Personal Trainers are gym based and help people already committed to a training programmme to gain the most from it in that environment. Whilst I appreciate the benefits of a gym for many I believe in trying to work outside the many constraints of a gym. I like to get out in the open as much as possible, often using park and street furniture to help create as varied a training programme as possible. A gym can be a part of an exercise regime, and I am happy to help design programmes to get the most out of them, but I believe they should be used as part of the overall regime.
My aim is always to exercise muscles in as many ways as possible over a period in order that when you do feel you need to call on them they’re ready and rearing to go. If you think of the infamous press-up it actually offers a very limited range of motion, however we can vary the press-up in any number of ways to make it a fully functional exercise.
If you could run an army assault course a few times a week you would end up exercising every muscle in a fully functional way and would probably need no other form of exercise. This is obviously impractical and more to the point it is not what the majority of you want to do, at least not three times a week. Exercise needs to fill you with both a sense of purpose and achievement and be enjoyed.
