A lot of this site is aimed at those starting out on a fitness regime or looking to maintain a satisfactory level of fitness, however it can be an even greater challenge to help the existing athelete.
When you think of sport specific training you often think of a Coach above a Personal Trainer. Now a Coach is necessary for the finer detail of a specific sport and arguably indispensable at the highest levels, however I would suggest that Personal Training can help all athletes from the recreational runner to the Olympic swimmer. As a Personal Trainer I treat the body as a whole upon which you may make specific demands. Does my wish to run faster marathons mean I should ignore my upper body strength? I believe not.
An example I like to use is a 2nd Dan Black Belt Martial Artist who trains with me. His training has been in the main within the confines of the Martial Art club. This has given him good strength and power, but little endurance which is the basis of all successful exercise programmes. So by introducing endurance based exercises as well as varied strength and power based exercises he is finding increased ability to train for longer, greater stamina in fights as well as reduced body fat percentage leading to increased self confidence with the fairer sex.
So yes please come and see me. I can help with speed training for the runner, power for the rugby player, agility for the tennis player. By looking at the motions involved in any sport we can work on exercises to improve speed, strength, power and agility in those motions.
